Synopsys

At some point, I realized our eyes had become accustomed to the censorship of skin and hair in magazines and books. We began to believe it was wrong to see or show anything natural from the human body. This led to feelings of fear and guilt about our own bodies.

Director's notes
I remember a long time ago when a fun little entertainment for me and some other classmates was to try using nail polish remover or something similar to remove marker stains from our English books or magazines. I don't know what we were looking for, but each time we wiped the stains, we saw nothing but a normal arm or leg of a woman wearing a T-shirt or a skirt. At some point, we stopped wiping those stains off. That would be around the time we were convinced we were supposed to cover our hair and skin for the sake of other eyes. Personally, I had a constant fear of the consequences of showing even a few hair strands under my scarf; because I believed that the fires of hell would await me, or that I would be hung from those few hairs in hell. I was always conscious and aware of my skin and hair, and felt like there was something wrong with me, or my friends, or every other woman I saw.
