Director's notes
"Hometopia" inspired by Hackney's De Beauvoir Estate, offers a journey into the complex world of British council housing. While these estates initially represented a promise of modernisation and enhanced living conditions, they sadly fell short, earning the notorious label 'high-rise hell'. Through vivid animation, "Hometopia" presents this stark reality in an impactful way, uncovering the chaotic and alienating atmosphere within these dwellings. It urges viewers to reflect on the elusive notion of 'Hometopia'—a perfect home within social housing—and challenges conventional understanding of home, community, and urban architecture.
