Areesha Amin (b. 2000) is a filmmaker who has made several short films on genres like drama, horror, mystery and psychological thriller. She has recently completed her film study at National College of Arts from Pakistan and now works as a freelance art director, writer and editor.

Director's notes
Happy Birthday is a short horror film under three minutes that explores the unsettling transition from normalcy to terror. The story follows a girl who receives a birthday card with a heart-shaped hole and a message instructing her to look through it to find her gift. What she sees through the hole is terrifying. By juxtaposing familiar, comforting elements with the unknown and horrific, we aimed to create an atmosphere of dread and anticipation. This film demonstrates the power of short-form storytelling and reminds us how quickly our sense of safety can be shattered. I hope Happy Birthday leaves you with a lingering sense of unease.
